TRUSTED TO SERVE, READY TO LEAD.

U.S. Army Veteran Ashit champions transparent, inclusive leadership focused on affordable housing, sustainable growth, and preserving parks and trees.

Meet Ashit

Veteran. Neighbor.
Problem Solver.

Ashit Patel served our country in uniform. Now he’s ready to serve our town.

A 12-year resident of Morrisville, Ashit is a U.S. Army veteran, a Big Four business leader, and an engaged neighbor who believes in showing up, listening closely, and getting things done.

As a Combat Engineer in the U.S. Army, Ashit learned how to lead under pressure and work across differences. Today, he brings that same focus to solving local problems, from traffic and infrastructure to transparency and growth.

In his professional life, Ashit works at one of the world’s leading firms, where he contributes to national diversity and sustainability efforts through the Asian Pacific Islander Network and the Living Green Network.

Ashit has been a steady presence in civic life. He’s First Vice Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party’s Asian American Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Caucus and serves as Secretary of Desi Democrats of North Carolina, a grassroots organization committed to expanding participation and representation in local government.

Beyond his professional and political work, Ashit volunteers with BAPS, supporting faith-based community service and outreach programs throughout the Triangle.

He’s running for Town Council to bring Morrisville thoughtful leadership rooted in discipline, facts, and public service, not politics or posturing.

Ashit lives in Morrisville with his family and is deeply invested in the future of neighborhoods and the broader community he’s proud to call home.

My Priorities

Environmental Protection & Sustainable Growth

Morrisville’s rapid growth over the past decade, driven by its ideal location, vibrant diversity, and natural beauty, has placed real strain on our environment. In many areas, tree canopies, green spaces, and long-standing neighborhoods have given way to dense apartment complexes and paved parking lots.

Ashit believes sustainable development must guide every decision the town makes. This approach ensures clean air, shaded greenways, and public spaces that support both health and community connection. In recent years, Morrisville has made important progress by launching a food recycling pilot, expanding EV charging stations, planting native pollinator-friendly vegetation, and hiring a dedicated sustainability coordinator. Ashit strongly supports these steps and wants to see them expanded.

As a council member, he will be a strong advocate for strengthening the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) to increase tree canopy retention and setbacks for new development, and explore more opportunities for solar energy, both on municipal rooftops and in residential areas. Ashit will ensure that Morrisville’s growth never comes at the expense of the environment, but instead enhances the natural spaces that make our town special.

Affordable Housing

Ashit believes that anyone who serves our town, whether in a classroom, fire station, police department, or town office, should be able to afford to live in our town.

Also, those who have built their lives here, especially longtime seniors, deserve the option to stay here.

As our town continues to grow and housing prices continue to rise, many essential workers and older residents are being priced out of Morrisville.

Ashit supports expanding workforce and senior housing in a way that respects neighborhood character, avoids congestion, and protects our infrastructure. He will advocate for identifying town-owned parcels that could support small-scale, income-targeted housing for both working families and seniors.

Ashit will also explore partnerships with Wake County, regional housing agencies, and local nonprofits to increase access to affordable housing options, whether through homeownership support, rental assistance, or creative community-led solutions.

Ashit’s approach is grounded in a simple belief: Those who serve Morrisville, and those who’ve shaped it, should be able to stay in the place they call home.

Infrastructure & Traffic Relief

Over the past decade, Morrisville has experienced rapid growth, but our roads, intersections, and transit options have struggled to keep up. The result is longer commutes, frustrating bottlenecks, and a transportation network that wasn’t built for the pace of development we’ve seen.

Ashit believes infrastructure should come first. He will prioritize investment in roads, intersections, and traffic management tools that address current congestion and prepare the town for future growth. This includes supporting key projects like the widening of Highway 54, the extension of Airport Boulevard, and improvements to high-traffic intersections.

He will also push for better coordination between the Town, NCDOT, and developers to ensure traffic impacts are thoroughly evaluated and addressed before any new project is approved. In areas already suffering from congestion, Ashit believes developers must share in the responsibility to improve surrounding infrastructure. Whether that means contributing to road upgrades, intersection improvements, or traffic mitigation measures, development should never move forward without a clear plan to manage its impact.

Ashit supports expanding pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure and improving transit options like the Smart Shuttle. He believes residents deserve safe, walkable neighborhoods and real alternatives to driving.

His approach is straightforward: growth should never outpace the infrastructure that supports it. Ashit will work to make Morrisville safer, more connected, and easier to move through for everyone.
